The Photographer

Scott J Smith

I'm a Pacific Northwest landscape photographer based in Vancouver, WA. Most of my work starts early, before the light is certain and before most people are awake. I'm out there chasing fog and soft light in the forests, mountains, and along the coastlines.

My images lean moody and minimal. I'm not trying to make the PNW look like a postcard. I'm trying to capture the feeling of actually being there, the stillness, the cold air, the way light moves through the trees, gone before you can explain it.
